Unfortunately, the Peace Camp that was a force in Israeli politics, has mostly dissipated. Yes, there are some pro-Palestinian Israelis, but they are few and far between. Some may still be found writing for Ha’aretz.

The problem with the elections has nothing to do with Palestinians. It’s mostly a power-play between Netanyahoo and Bennie Ganz. Ganz has declared that he will not form a government with the Palestinian’s Joint List. The last government that had an Israeli-Palestinian representation, the other Israeli parties refused to deal with them, and many of their members ended up in prison on various spurious charges.

The Israel National Law says that national rights in Israel belong only to the Jewish people — the Jews are first in line. A recent Pew Poll found that 79% of Israeli Jews agree. The same poll found that 48% of Jewish Israelis believe that all Palestinians should be evicted from Israel.

If you think my comment re Saudi bombs was untoward, suggest you read up on the Samson Option.

ALL killing is untoward, it's nothing to do with politics or race or any other half baked excuse. It's an unintelligent response that creates evil in its wake.

Always better to be informed than to launch general broadsides.

The Samson Option is part of Israel’s military strategy. If Israel believes it is losing in a conventional war, it is Israel’s strategy to launch nuclear weapons at its enemies, starting a general nuclear war. Israel has never denied this strategy. This might be the Armageddon that much of the Evangelical right is dreaming of.

Seymour Hersh wrote a book about the Samson Option Some years ago. The snippet below is part of a review, don’t think Israel considers Russia an enemy anymore.

Many within Israel's leaders & military past & present have maniacal beliefs ... As it seems this Armageddon wasn't just to be inflicted solely on their enemies but also friends and supporters to.... so much is the fanaticism if we don't survive no one will....

David Hirst's The Gun and the Olive Branch (2003) as saying: We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets for our air force. Let me quote General Moshe Dayan: 'Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother.' I consider it all hopeless at this point. We shall have to try to prevent things from coming to that, if at all possible. Our armed forces, however, are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under.

If they are prepared to be this public about it, there will be other states that can (and will) take pre-emptive action now they know about it. I doubt they're the only nation that has this option.

You don't seriously think that Israel would be allowed to start a nuclear war?
If other states are now aware of the policy why would they descend into a general war?
Ridiculous and doesn't bear scrutiny.

If you want peace you prepare for war, as has been said, and that includes preventing such an action by Israel.

Palestinian supporters must be scratching their head wondering what the Arab grouping RaaM in the Israeli Parliament will achieve by backing a Zionist Nationalist right wing group led by Naftali Bennett, a former settler leader who opposes a Palestinian state and wants Israel to annex the majority of the occupied West Bank . Apart from getting rid of an equally Nationalist zealot like Netanyahu ....

Well it seems as king makers they have been offered ...

The United Arab List, the political extension of the southern wing of the Palestine 1948 Islamic Movement, founded by Israeli citizen Palestinians, had four deputies in the last elections. Mansur Abbas also announced that some items that will benefit the Arabs living in the Negev Desert have entered into the agreement, and that they have gained gains in making changes in the controversial law called Kaminitz, which paves the way for the demolition of Palestinian homes in Israel.

Making a press statement after the signing of the agreement, Abbas said, "This is the first time that an Arab party is partnering in the government," and said, "We want a government that will serve all citizens of the country, including Arabs, so we made a difficult choice. There are many disagreements and we understand this, but there is no general consensus. We have to come to an agreement," he said.

'ARAB VILLAGES IN NEGEV WILL BE RECOGNIZED'

Stating that as a condition of joining the coalition, they have made "critical agreements on a number of issues in the interests of the Arab community in Israel," Abbas said, "There is a lot in this agreement that will benefit the Arab community and Israeli society in general. In particular, the Negev, which is struggling with problems such as unrecognized villages and demolition of houses. for the region,” he said.

THE LAW WHICH DESTROYED THE HOUSES OF PALESTINIANS WILL BE CHANGED

In the written statement from the United Arab List, the following information was given about the scope of the coalition agreement, which is described as 'historical', for Arabs:

* The Kaminitz law, enacted by the Knesset in 2017, which has been controversial for accelerating the demolition process of Arab homes, will be amended within 120 days;

* He will assume the positions of chairman of the United Arab List, Parliamentary Internal Affairs Committee and Arab Affairs Committee and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly;

* Three Arab villages in the Negev will be recognized within 45 days of the establishment of the government, and other villages within nine months.

But will the Coalition even last as long ? to see any of these promises come to fruition? and can this man Naftali Bennett who makes no secret of his disdain of Palestinians and their aims ..be trusted

Netanyahu could still rise from the political coffin to cause problems within this vastly dispirt coalition to cling to power and and avoid corruption charges

Israel’s parliament ousts Benjamin Netanyahu, ending his 12-year rule as the Israeli Prime Minister and friend of Trump ..... I am happy he has gone, and he might now face his corruption charges, but no celebration on this new Coalition as it is just a mirror image of Likud on policy .... Will it even last with 60-59 against ...it even lost a vote on the way to this vote with an abstention .....

So who is Naftali Bennett, Israel's incoming prime minister?
