Why Have A Cleric At A Secular Funeral ?

This vicar has come under fire because of his comments about the way in which people want funerals conducted these days. I have no religious beliefs but I do agree and sympathise with his comments and those of various readers that have added to the debate.

There was a time that the " Church " considered it a privilege to Evangelise its beliefs " wherever The Lord called it's ministers to". I would have thought any Cleric worth his salt would be delighted to encounter the unbelieving rather than to preach to the already converted. Sure it must be smashing to practise to the happy clappers, the whoopers and halleleuyah Lord congregations. Surely it must be much more rewarding to reach out and interest one unbeliever than 10,000 faithful.

Bet the faithful are more rewarding financially.

Well I think he's not being very Christian.Everyone is entitled to a funeral of their choice and everyone should respect that

I don't much care if people don't want a religious funeral but it would be nice if they had better taste in music.
