The Island of Kos.
I am thinking of going to Kos for a week.

Anyone been before and can tell me what its like.????

Are there plenty of shops coz lets face it Altinkum is pretty poor for decent shops.

Nik says all he wants is the sausage shop(strange glances from me).

Is the port fairly near Kos town???As looking at hotel near the marina to stay.

Any other info gratefully appreciated.

The port is in the city. Lots of shops and they let you look and touch but don't badger you to buy and everything I seen was priced but you can still offer less. Driving was still dangerous but better then in Turkey. Rent a jeep and site see, wonderful little island. I really liked it when I went.

Went to Kos once, thought it was like a smaller, dirtier (litter) version of Rhodes

We've been to Kos for the last 2 years, and will go back in September this year , but we use it as a start to some Greek island hopping.. Lovely port there, tons of shops ( not sure about Body shop tho ! ) The port is right in the centre of town, nice to walk everywhere. lovely castle ruins and loads of history. Theres a minature train that chugs around the town for sightseeing and its very popular with the Dutch. They are riding their bicycles everywhere ! Great bus service and pretty regular to all over the island from the bus station in the centre of Kos town. Kefalos is quietish whereas Kardamena is busier and more " Brit-ish" Depends on what your looking for really. You can take day trips from there also to Kalimnos island which is very nice .

Yes there is a body shop, its down one of the back streets. Its impossible for me to describe how to find it but its about a 20 min walk from the harbour. There is a body shop in Izmir too, maybe easier to find ,its right next to ikea lol.
I cant think of any other "english shops" so to speak but food wise alot of the supermarkets and corner shops sell english things ie: salad cream, corned beef, cadburys choccie, etc etc etc
