The European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton, who back in February this year, has been put in charge of the new vaccine production task force by the EU Commission, has unveiled the prototype of the announced EU vaccine passports last Sunday.

During an interview for RTL radio and TV channel LCI, Commissioner Breton also said that the new documents which will prove that the traveller has been vaccinated, recovered from COVID-19, or his/her test results in case none of the two first has taken place, will be issued to EU citizens somewhere in mid-June ideally.

Errr at the border? Its over 250 miles long so you'd need to be specific as to at which point your referring

They do have a border you know, all they need to do is stop nonlocal numberplates and check people's passports? Nothing stopping them from doing this its not ONLY EU citizens who cross from France to Italy

Principle passport control is entering the EU block of course

I simply asked you where the border checks are between France and Italy? Name the place, because apart from driving to Turkey and back a few times PLUS some friends and I have notched up the use of five casinos in Milan..........we drove to all of them.

So I'm an Italian living in Milan, I decide to drive to Paris........just WHERE do I get stopped?

Entering the EU block from outside the EU block there are hard borders.

Inside the EU there are still borders but theres no hard borders, but theres nothing stopping them simply setting up check points for the covid passport.

Alternatively just pass a law that you cant cross borders without the passport, then all the police have to do is pull over foreign registered cars and check it.

Frankly in this day and age all the data could be on a APNR system and you wouldn't even have to do that

Your “all the police have to do” is again just nonsense. Do you not know that free movement is one of the EUs cornerstones?
When you speak of “foreign cars”, Milan to Paris is via Switzerland, if you ever go there just look at the vehicle registrations.
There’s more foreign number plates than there are Swiss ones. It’s a transit country. Just about every member states number plate are flying through that country.
BTW, it’s not the cars that’s the problem, it’s the people in them.
Why do you think Europe became the epicentre of this virus? People movement!!!

According to the current Schengen rules, EU countries can for a limited period introduce border checks at their internal borders if there is a serious threat to public health ...

The Digital Green Certificate can serve as proof of vaccination, testing and recovery in order to waive restrictions to free movement put in place in a Member State on public health grounds, such as testing or quarantine requirements.

If a Member State accepts proof of vaccination to waive restrictions to free movement, it will have to accept proof of vaccination issued by another Member State in relation to vaccines which have received EU market authorisation.

Member States will have the option to extend this to travellers who receive other vaccines.

When travelling, every Digital Green Certificate holder will have the same rights as citizens of the visited Member State who have been vaccinated, tested or recovered.

The “Digital Green Certificate” will facilitate safe and free movement during the COVID-19 pandemic within the EU. A Digital Green Certificate will be a proof that a person has been vaccinated against COVID-19, has received a negative test result or has recovered from COVID-19 that can be used across all EU Member States, will be introduced in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway as well as Switzerland. he Digital Green Certificate will also be open to initiatives being developed globally.

Do you remember what happened across Europe on the second wave? Member states started to close borders & Brussels was outraged. Border closures hit both free movement of people and goods, those are core values of the EU.
The only “out” on this virus is vaccinations & on appearances, scepticism on vaccinations across Europe is a problem.
I’ve still yet to read where checks will be done, those checks can only be done on face to face. Four people in a car driving from Milan to Paris.......how do the authorities know that those four people are not carrying the virus on their travels?

And you honestly think that's what all people will do, "report to someone"?
Even on this forum some members were looking for ways to circumnavigate movement restrictions.
Anyone who's travelled around or across Europe will tell you how it really is. You don't even know you're in Switzerland till you've passed through the country.
Travelling by car or on foot across Europe will be a gaping hole for this virus. Unlike boarding a plane or a ferry where documents will have to be produced prior to boarding.

Of course there will be people that will try to circumvent the law and travel restrictions but a small minority, what country is hermetically sealed from people abusing travel restrictions not even North Korea, but the Green Digital passport is another weapon in fighting the virus .......... anyway that's not what you asked ...

"small minority" is all it takes but I do wonder how small that minority will be out of over 300 million people.

Ha ha ... another Chips rabbit hole, confronted with facts..... Pity you haven't voiced equal concern over our own Government sieve of border seen at Airports throughout the Pandemic ...... if as you said that's " all it takes" ...

As said the EU Green digital vaccine travel passport another good weapon in the fight against the virus ... so much so the UK government is now investigating its own Travel Vaccine Passport ... So are you saying CHIPS our Govt shouldn't as small minority will circumvent it ???? ..

When you've travelled around & across Europe, you might understand what I'm on about.
Even refugees and migrants managed to circumnavigate borders, that was without ANY passports for many of them.
The UKs travel passports relate to where Camden, to go into Wales & Scotland or to go abroad? Because the EU is like England's borders with Scotland & Wales.........non existent.
