can any body tell me if you have had your internet and telephone line cancelled while you are away from your property ,can you still recive phone calls but not ring out like you can in the uk if phone line disconnected, in altinkum

Yes, for a limited time.

However, if there's a shortage of telephone lines in your area you could soon find that your line and number have been allocated to someone else.

As we pay by direct order every month whether we are there or not I would assume that our phone is always connected. Any views on this

I would say you are correct Lesley. We have had ours for nearly five years now, been to UK for seven week periods and never had a problem. As you say, because we pay by direct order usage is immaterial.

What i did was...went to turk telekom
told them i wanted phone put on
filled out a form which was in turkish ( may have changed now)
Photo copıes of passport and ıkamet
6 weeks later than conected phone
İ payed 50 lira as there was aready a line to house

For internet went to turk telekom
they gave me the modem
3 days later internet was on
went back to turk telekom for contract
took contract to bank to set up direct debit


Dont know the standard charge for phone now...but ım sure someone will tell you.

You can get a phone line in your name if you have a Residence Permit or Citizenship. You don't have to live in Turkey full-time though.

And if that Turkish person gets into debt and/or has a court order against them, it's possible that you could have the bailiffs knocking at the door of your property. It's up to you then to prove that they don't live at your place.
