In my opinion Our forces are out there fighting for what ..!! History tells us that its a war which no one will win. Iraq, Afganistan Do our leaders see something different to us? Ok, we only get snippets on the tv news, more here than in the uk. The good people of our towns & villages across the country have had enough of our young folk not returning from war torn countries around the globe. Bombs and bullets are not the answer, only by talking to the people themselves and finding out what they want will the situation be resolved. Our past has taught us that we cannot force solutions on other nations.Palestine, India, Nothern Ireland,Ect Ect.

Ok not every one will agree with this post but i would be interested to hear you views

Read all of this one, it is interesting!! Near the bottom--the part highlighted in green--will give you GOOSEBUMPS!!! You don't want to miss this! VERY INTERESTING- 1. The Garden of Eden was in Iraq 2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization! 3. Noah built the ark in Iraq 4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq 5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq 6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor , which is in Iraq 7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq 8. Jonah preached in Nineveh - w hich is in Iraq 9.. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel 10. Amos cried out in Iraq 11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem 12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq 13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been in Iraq also as the fourth person in the Fiery Furnace!) 14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the 'writing on the wall' in Iraq 15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq 16... Ezekiel preached in Iraq 17.. The wise men were from Iraq 18. Peter preached in Iraq 19. The 'Empire of Man' described in Revelation is called Babylon --which was a city in Iraq And you have probably seen this one: Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq ! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used in the Bible are Babylon , Land of Shinar , and Mesopotamia ... The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris And Euphrates Rivers .. The name Iraq means country with deep roots. Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible. No other nation, except Israel , has more history and prophecy associated With it than Iraq And also, This is something to think about: Since America is Typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages .... The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible) Koran ( 9:11 ) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle.. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; And there was peace. (Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmm?!

I am not even sure talking is an option. It was recently brought to my attention that the Quarn states that anyone who is not Muslim is an enemy ( Not in that wording exactly maybe but clearly says the same thing). If that really is the case is there ever any real hope for peace when Muslim extremists claim to be fighting a holy war to cleans the world of non-muslims? Is this the way it will be?

I know this is in the cafe but it has absolutely nothing to do with turkey or living in Turkey

It seems to me to be an attempt to stir things up.

Whatever your opinion on our troops in Iraq or Afghanistan this isnt the place to debate it (and I keep mine firmly to myself)

so I say just leave it alone and dont post anymore here

It's easy to misquote from the Quran and out of context, having said that this will turn into a heated thread about justification for and against war against Muslims and Islam.

It annoys me when people quote a sentence from the Quran to justify their views and actions usually taken totally out of context (Muslims and non-Muslims) even worse is the sheep that go on an spreading this cr*p without doing their own research.

I agree with Peregrine on this one and think there is no mileage in yet another attempt to stir this old chestnut up again.

I'm not closing the thread, I don't want to stifle free-speech and all that, but have moved it to the Back Room.

There are lots of threads on this forum which are not directly related to living in Turkey. Im not tryingto stir things up I would just be interested in hearing what other people think. Which I thought was the point of a forum . Old Chestnut or not:ukflag:

It's been said many times on the forum in the past and needs saying again, that are literally hundreds of hoax stories, chainletters and emails etc doing the rounds on the www. If people took just a couple of minutes to check them on sites like Snopes at

snopes.com: Urban Legends Reference Pages

or Hoax Busters at

Hoax Busters - the BIG LIST of Internet Hoaxes

it would save a lot of embarrassment, arguments and bandwidth.

Discussions in The Cafe aren't restricted to Turkey

Place to sit down and have a chat, discuss the weather, share a joke [:D], just enjoy yourself [)]

I tend to agree, if its in the CAFE its open for discussion and can be about anything. There are alot of people in Turkey who are not kept up to date with the happenings in the UK and abroad, this gives the opportunity for them to be discussed and debated

Didn't give me goosebumps like a Stephen King novel "These modern story tellers are far better than the one's who wrote the bible and Quran".

China has more history but seeing that the bible was written by people who didn't even know of it, it obviously only mattered to the Chinese.

Mustaq I was only taking a quote that Zuberdust mentioned on one of his posts recently. I was not making it up. I am not trying to stir things up either. I am sincerely just trying to understand. Please explain

"......having said that this will turn into a heated thread about justification for and against war against Muslims and Islam."

I think very few people would agree that there is a war againt "Muslims and Islam", perhaps "Muslim terrorists" or something similar.

I did acknowledge that but to be quite frank I am not interested in a debate about the war, muslims, Iraq, the rights and wrongs etc

I would prefer that the diskspace and bandwidth (or whatever) was kept a little closer to the original title of the forum

If you want to debate other, more general, topics then find an appropriate forum

now I'll do a Forrest Gump - "and thats all I am going to say on that subject"

I take that as a yes. I was only quoting what another Muslim member had said. Guess I'm done here, I don't need to be belittled for asking a simple question and then not having it answered. Is Zuberdust right? By not answering me that says yes. So answer me

back to the subject, I do supprort our troops, as they are the brave ones laying their lives down.
The cause ? no I didnt support Iraq war (no 2) as a lay person, I saw no tangeable evidence of wmd, have seen none since - did any one ?
Afganistan ? not a chance, it is not our war, the reasons it started are now not the reasons our troops are there.

what a complete waste of lives,
