Hi
It's no secret that chris and I are selling up, the problem at this moment in time is the Turkish will not want to pay the amount we want based on the exchange rate, so I am checking out a international seller called spot blue who specialise in selling property abroad, having spoke to a lovely lady by the name of Jayne who was presently in the uk, she seemed to talk the talk ( so to speak), and she will soon be going out to Altinkum where she is based, they are not just a web portal, but also working agents, the fees are £200 for them to advertise for a year, that's on Rightmove, Zoopla, and some other sites I have not heard of, plus of course their own, and 7% commission on them generating a sale, the problem I have with this is do I give them power of attorney.
Does anyone have any experience of this lady or this company?, I know the general rule is don't give POA to anyone, and most of you know I have been on TLF for a good few years now so I have read all the stories, that why I am asking questions.
Regards Martin.

I totally agree with other replies Martin, Never give anyone your POA.

I've never had any dealings with spot blue but I've been aware of the company for some years, can't remember why I know the name so well? Just found a few bits about them on google & the founder David Walker, hope it helps. Best wishes with your sale :)

Spot Blue - property agent in Turkey launches new website www.spotblue.co.uk

"As part of its personal care commitment, Spot Blue arranges viewing trips in Turkey for prospective buyers. The company can book direct return flights from a chosen UK airport and provides hotel accommodation to suit buyers’ individual requirements. Spot Blue’s English-speaking sales representative organises one-to-one viewings of as many properties as needed. When buyers find a property they wish to purchase, Spot Blue’s representatives help with all documentation through a lawyer, including tax numbers and opening a bank account, and give an initial introduction to furniture shops. Spot Blue does not operate a "high pressure" approach to selling property."

SEVEN PERCENT?????? SEVEN????
7%???? That's an eyewatering, nosebleed level of extortion by anyone's standards.
Isn't that enough to put you off without anything else?
There are plenty of UK online estate agents who will do it for 1%.
As for POA, not on your nelly, or anyone else's for that matter!

The only dealings we have had with Spot Blue was from a buyers aspect. We viewed a property with them (Alanya region) that we had already viewed with another agent, the other agent quoted us 56,000 Euros fully furnished & all white goods.
Spot Blue quoted us 18,000 Euros more with no furniture & white goods.
Needless to say we bought through the original agents.

I know this is the opposite end of the scale as you are looking to sell but thought I'd just let you know of our experience of dealing with them .....

Can't say I know them well, but have discussed some possible purchases with them over the years, and I note they had a big article in the 'homes' supliment of the Sunday Times only a couple of weeks ago - so they consider themselves one of the big players, but based in UK.

My concern when we enquired on purchases in the past was that they presented as sole agents, with a string of in-resort people... I quickly worked out however that they were actually subbing to local agents, so not sole at all.

We all know that property agents operated quite differently in Turkey. In short, the seller agrees the price they want and the agent markets at their own (usually higher) price - then I assume keeps or shares the additional proceeds....

My own experience therefore was that a little local research often showed the same properties we were looking at being on sale with local estate agents (often multiples) at considerably lower prices.

Hi. We had 3 apartments in altinkum. 2 of which have been sold by Jayne . We have not had any problems. We gave POA and she done the rest. On the date agreed for completion Money was deposited in our bank account. We were pleased with the service and have now put our 3rd apartment with her. I do agree you have to be careful as there is a lot of untrustworthy people out there as in the UK. Hope this helps you and good luck with any sale.

How exceptionally nice of you, not to mention perfectly coincidental? that you timed it so perfectly right to join the forum just to let us know you had had a good experience with spot-blue.

Personally I hold the company in the same regard as I do Hanel Houses!
