Sabiha Gokcen transfers and shuttle bus

On our arrival at Sabiha Gokcen airport we took the airport bus to Taksim square and then by taxi to the Apex hotel; interesting! The airport bus was cheap but the taxi fare made up for it as Taksim is a long way from the Apex hotel. Typical of Turkish taxi drivers he drove as though the devil was on his tail, we managed to slow him down; even then he still would have rivalled Lewis Hamilton in the Turkish Grand Prix! He tried the old trick of ‘forgetting to put on the meter, we insisted he turn it on and he did, the fare was TL 50. The journey, in total, was about 1.5 hours.
We booked a shuttle bus at the Apex for our return to Sabiha Gokcen four days later, and this not only was shorter, about 45 minutes but cheaper too, TL 21 each. We recommend the shuttle and next time we’ll be pre-booking from Sabiha Gokcen into Istanbul. We hope some of the added info helps; it’s by no means a definitive list of recommendations as others will have different experiences but in our view, the recommendations given on TFL and our own findings made our stay in Istanbul that much more enjoyable.

Do those suttles go from the main international airport in istanbul out to gotchen airport--turkish friends all say it is a real slow trip to get to gotchen from anywhere on the asian side -any comments

The journey to Sabiha Gokcen took just under an hour due to heavy traffic at the tolls, being a Sunday afternoon and heavy rain. We were told that you can book inbound in advance and we assume pick-up from the airport. We were accompanied in the shuttle bus by, we guess, the owner of the bus Co. who told us this info. BTW, he spoke fluent English and Spanish as well as his native Turkish

Not sure about shuttles 'inter-airport' but it's worth an enquiry on their site.

Does this service take you to and from your hotel or do they have a pick up point?
We are travelling to Istanbul in March. Flying into the SG Airport and stopping in the Sultanahmet area.
Never been to Istanbul having lived in Turkey for 5 years...really looking forward to it.

Hi Joanne, We were collected at the Apex hotel and dropped at the departure gate, they had 3 pick-up points at hotels so assume they will collect from a number of hotels depending on the need on the day; superb service. We also assume that if they do indeed pick-up at Sabiha Gokcen they will drop you off at your hotel. Enjoy Istanbul there's so much to see in this great city.
