Russia's gas shutoff is forcing Europe's biggest buyer of its supplies to draw down winter emergency reserves
“Brexit & Trump........wrong thread.
I could post on all three threads but would be in violation of TLF rules.
Meanwhile seems you have nothing constructive to add to thread, not even about your hero departıng for Iran! :)

Gazprom: no upside in Nord Stream gas export possible

Russian gas giant comes out with detailed statement on Nord Stream 1 situation, insists on lifting sanctions
Markelov said the operator had to halt these three turbines at the end of June after they were reported to have developed 11 malfunctions in the period between May and June.

He added that under the contract between the operator and Siemens Energy, repairs on the turbines can only be conducted in the presence of Siemens’ representatives. However, despite several letters sent to Siemens in Russia in June and July, nobody from the German company arrived to Portovaya to advise and supervise repairs.

I am more interested in adding to Russia's problems than sorting them.

As a supporter of Russia maybe you should help them.

Meanwhile..

Adding to Russia’s problems is commendable and the name of the game.

Europe’s energy problems & the cost of living crisis has only just started in comparison to what’s on its way IMO.

I don’t think planning ahead will work, you can’t plan ahead when you have no idea what’s coming. Some gas, no gas etc.
It’s not just Germany’s Government left wondering, nor is it only Germany worrying about unrest.

If you rely on a hostile nation for critical supplies it doesn’t take much imagination to see what could happen.

Seems to me that most of the world relies on hostile nations for one thing or another.

Then they deserve all they get (or don't get)!

When they talk about cheap Russian gas, how on earth would Europe have ever survived or advanced without it. There's no chance of energy prices going back to how they were.........affordable.

Again, why did they rely on a rogue nation in the first place?
And why do they continue to fund Putin's was chest?
Do they really prefer the possibility of WW3 to the loss of a few home comforts?

No sympathies.

Ukraine is also helping to fund Putin’s war chest, they’ve even offered to accommodate the slack from Nord Stream One by transiting via their pipeline.
What you’re asking/wanting allies to do regarding energy is impossible not only for now but for sometime to come yet IMO.

And if we cut that supply you'd have no gas and then you'd have justification in whinging. So would you like us to cut supply?

AGAIN because they were content to risk blackmail by a hostile nation.

AGAIN no sympathy.

And there you have it, if you cut the gas, Europe would suffer, so why ask for Europe to stop having it?
I would like to see Ukraine cut the gas, if for no other reason than to show people what that would be like.

Europe should have weaned itself off Russian gas long ago.

Hang on Jaycey, Ukraine has also relied on Russian gas for years as has most of Europe.

Russia was a supposedly friendly nation with security guaranteed by treaty.

But if Ukraine (off topic) was stupid it doesn't make the West any less stupid!

When has Russia EVER been considered to be a friendly nation by the West? Even back in my school days the enemy was always Russia.

I said that Russia was considered to be a friendly nation by Ukraine.

Then more fool the West for entrusting energy supplies to a hostile nation.
