Mmmm. Mind blowing but what I do not understand is how villa owners (as opposed to apartment owners) are affected. I have been told that villa owners also have to update their tapu if it only refers to "Arsa" (land) and not the land and villa. Further, this requires re-measurement and (surprise, surprise) another fee. Failure to do this may give rise to a fine; presumably when you come to sell it otherwise who is going to check and enforce this.
well martyn,
does this give a small hope that a lot more owners can at least enjoy a stress free holiday . we can but hope lol

Incredible that 70% of properties don't have a habitation cert.
According to that article, our property taxes will increase five fold as soon as our houses are re-registered. A nice little earner for the councils.
I read that. It's good news that fines are lifted. Article was quiet brief. Article states they will present a new law to Parliament by 1 July, how long till Parliament enforces that law? I wonder..
Don't hold your breath, we been there before, nearly every summer something to do with property buying is going through the parliament and every time it gets put off because of holidays and even if it gets passed it goes back for revisions, until the next time.......
