Monkee Peter Tork has died of throat cancer

RIP He was a great guitarist which most people didn't realise

The proper line up of the Monkees according to themselves should have been

Mickey Dolenz-----rhyhm guitar and lead vocals
Peter Tork --------lead guitar and vocals
Mike Nesmith------bass and vocals
Davy Jones--------drums and vocals

The Monkees :hmm:

A fabricated band, created for a TV comedy show.

Against all the odds they produced some good sounds, I still enjoy their music today, sad the read of his death, and yes, I loved the show and the band on the day.

One of their good ones.

Hey hey we're the monkees......
I was just recently married and living in a room. My wife was a student nurse and on nights when these boys first showed up on tv. My tv was a pay to watch with a slot meter on the side. Their show would start and I used to wish the money would run out!

RIP Peter.

I met all the Monkees when they came to London. I used to collect autographs and got all of the Monkees' ones. A really nice bunch of lads … so sad to hear that Peter Tork is dead and of all things, throat cancer … the poor guy must have suffered. ANGELA x

Behind the Music: The Monkees

Features interviews with the band members about how each of them became a part of the band, and the many things which happened between them, to them, and because of them. Regardless of what anybody says, they were an important part of music in the 1960s.
