P**d off with nationwide!

I drove into marmaris yesterday, 2 hour round trip,
to withdraw some money on my nationwide a/c
after trying 4 atms and being refused message of
over your daily limit.... b******s. So I called nationwide
at great expense on my mobile they can find no reason,
their suggestion, try a smaller amount. tried 5 more
nada nought nothing! I called them again today grrr
to be told that there is sometimes problems with foreign
atms accepting nationwide cards, when asked when they
plan to sort the problem out he said its just foreign atms!
that doesnt exactly help me when I am in a foreign
country does it. fortunately my partners barclays debit
card worked fine 1st time. beware have a back up card.
Oh and we had used the card 5 on this trip no problems,
his suggestion go back to the last one we used it in.....

Never, evr had a problem drawing with my NW Card overseas and on most holidays I draw as I need because there are no charges.

..same here never had a problem with natiomwide ever, and as martyn says ..no charge for atms..i had a tsb account up to a couple of years ago ..irrelevant what you withdraw .£10 or £300 i had to pay a £5 charge..so will stick with nationwide ....no charge:cheers:

Hi Carol i can top it..i was about to start a new thread til i saw yours.
İve been waiting for a new Debit Card to come through ..i wrote about the whole sorry saga on Friday 13th thread..and today i had news my new card had arrived at last..so overjoyed i went up to the PTT to pick it up.
The plans i was making for a shopping trip wow..the feast after the famine...i went to the ATM and was refused.. i couldnt believe it i tried again with varying amounts ..nothing doing. So back home and once again on the phone to Lloyds (at great expense as it takes ages)
The girl i spoke to couldn't understand why ..then took extra security details from me...knew it was me..then went to make further enquiries..and guess what
The date on my original card had just another month before a new one was due...so the card services had posted one out to my bank..almost at the same time as the fraud happened so they had sent one card back and the other card that arrived they cancelled.. (i dont understand why..i dont think they know either) and the cancelled card was the one they gave to my daughter in law to send to me...can you believe it.
The girl i just spoke to (who was as gob smacked as me and apologised on behalf of the bank)said she would order me a new card.! i asked where will you send it to..she said where would you like !!..i said will you send it here and she said yes...but it wont arrive to about 1st December.

İve already sent a complaint letter to Head Office last week..and i believe i will follow it up and demand some compensation..... they put 50 quid in my account last week listed as 'ex gratia'..i think im due a lot more than that now.

Strange you should mention dates Shirley, one of
the comments they made to me was that my card
expires at the end of this month and that a new one
has been sent out, I pointed out to them that seeing
as I have been here for three weeks I would'nt know
that a new card had been sent out and the point is
that it is not the end of the month and my card is still
valid...they agreed....bit of a pointless arguement
I to have always praised there good rates and no charges
whilst drawing money abroad, which is all well and good
untill your stuck with no money, abroad, with them telling
you that there cards have security issues with foreign
atms

So far we have had no problem with Nationwide but I do notify them the dates I will be abroad and which country I'm visiting.

I have 2 Nationwide accounts, opened in different years so renewable in different years, to avoid this problem. I bank on-line so can move money into either account as necessary.

:132lmeep joy just received my nationwide statement
£241-57 went out of my account on the 19th the day I
could'nt get money out, called them up sorry madam you'll
have to go into the branch to fill out a form...grrrreat
another couple of hours wasted!! but how come when I
called them again on the 20th did they not have a record
of the withdrawl?
