Olive Bricks
Hi Kalkan folk,

Looking for winter fuel. Does anyone know where I can get Olive Bricks in the Kalkan or Fethiye area?

Cheers,

There are 2 or 3 Olive pressing plants in Kemer ( near Fethiye ) that probably sell the olive stones for fuel.

There are also a couple of factories just off of the D400 near E┼čen that may be worth trying too.

May I ask, what are olive bricks, can you burn them in any fire, how much do they cost and, what are the advantages? Thanks.

It's the pulp that is left over from making olive oil at the zeytin factories. A lot of it is sold on after the olives have been pressed. We paid 20 kurus per kilo. I don't think you can use them on open fires or indoor sobas as they would smoke a lot, but ideal for our multi fuel burner.

Hi,

We also use this fuel for our multifuel boiler. It is more economical because it's cheaper per kilo, creates less waste because it burns easier/last longer, and is better for the enviroment.
