About 2 years ago we had a new digital meter installed, which gives 3 readings plus total. We assumed that we were on the 3 tariff system, cheap rate being 2200 - 0600. So religiously we put timers on dishwasher, pool pump, hot water etc all to run at cheap rate!

Yesterday we happened to look at the latest bill, and although they take the 3 readings, we are still being charged the same rate!!!! Have decided to stick to the one tariff as I think it will work out cheaper in the long term.

Sometimes we do feel a little stupid

Moral of the story - check your electric bill, never assume!!!!!!!!!

We decided that it wasn't worth changing to the 3 tariffs because we couıld not see a saving.

We had not noticed until it was pointed out to us that even if you are one tariff (which we are) You still get charged a percentage of your total Kwh at the other rates.:splat:

If you look at the bill you will see charges in the other tariff columns.

It's things like that which help you understand why a sense of humour is essential.:48:

Thats interesting appollo too, as we have been on the single tariff for 4 years and have never had any readings in the other two columns, just the one reading in the one column on every bill. As we had the new meter we considered changing to the different tariffs but found the single one was the best for us.

If you're on a single tariff you have to apply to the electricity company to have the 3 tariff system.

Even if you already have a 3 tariff meter it doesn't necessarily mean that you are being charged at the 3 tariff rate.
