I'm in Alanya 25 Dec - 1st Jan, yay!

1. Is it dead there?

2. What's the temparature?

3. Where's the best curry (a real one, not school dinnery) and beer and will it be open that week?

Thanks

Don't fancy cold and dead, but still coming.

Weighed up the financials (Alanya vs Egypt / Morocco / Tunisia). I'd still rather stay at my own place rather than a hotel so opted for cold and quiet.

Lamb Vindaloo? Pushing your luck there John.

But Tina and Jez at the Eden Bar in Oba reckon they do a passing fair curry.

My only concern is that I've never seen any stray cats or dogs in their area.

Eden/Jez is closed in the winter.

there are some good Turkish lokantas with real Turkish food open all year.

i like this one..its in Saray Mah...and if you want it hot and spicy just say so.

Ka??kara Ocakba?? Restaurant

Ev restaurant near the Atatürk Square has good food and live music all through the winter

there are a few seedy places too ...one in a little hut like place that has a female singer and live music til the early hours just off the main road between Tosmur and Kestel.

Memos Turkish night club is open all year for live music after 12mn...its next door to the İş Bankası in the centre

also try this place they do Indian and they have a great Xmas lunch full of some great expats

Eden Bar does open in the Winter, but weekends only for the sports fanatics who have to watch their favourite Football or Rugby team. They open Mondays which is market day throughout the year.

Raring to go now, Jacey!
Been in touch with Jez.

Even booked a night in Konya for literary tourism purposes.

Can't wait! Dont care of it's quiet, at least it's far away and different.
