If we get the correct answer about bringing our dog with us, my wife and are going to relocate to Alanya within months. I have one big concern about healthcare and costs
Has anyone had any experience of this??
Should we be taking out medical insurance??

Hello jss05, I can answer your querie re.your dog as follows, we brought from the UK our toy poodle and she cost £319. You must see your local vet who will have the forms from DEFRA, your dog must have rabies injections, and before your flight a full health check within 96hrs (if I remember rightly).
the cage has to be the correct size for the dog, they will check this at the cargo dept. On arrival at Antalya "you will go to the cargo area to pick up your dog" we were told, but whilst waiting at the carousel for our bags, her cage was pushed though the flaps!!!
The process is quite straight forward, we had no problems.
As for healthcare afraid I cannot help you there, we are to old being in our 70s, but the hospitals here generaly are pretty good, my wife had to go to Can Hospital in Alanya for an op. and they were very good.

Thanks for info on dog. I really is the hospital side of things that worry me ie the level of knowledge and care, the cost, I presume for operations etc we would have to pay and the standards

personally I think you are mad if you even think about moving there without Health Insurance. The cost obviously is totally dependent on your age and state of health

a neighbours friend racked up a bill of £20,000 following an accident, total nightmare as they had no insurance

The level of medical and surgical knowledge in Turkey is equal to anything in the Uk.
Basic nursing care is mainily done by the family..washing feeding toilet ....Qualified nurses only do hands on specialist work..medicines ,injections dressings, drips etc.

This subject has been talked about before I'm sure. Try using the SEARCH button in the very top red band on this page to ask specific questions with regard to health.
Good luck.
