Dutch-Belgian financial services group Fortis will pay 986.8 million euros
($1.22 billion) for Turkey's Disbank creating the top foreign bank in a growth market of 70 million people.

Foreign investors have been ploughing money into Turkey, encouraged by European Union entry talks due to start in October and by the stabilisation of the country's economy.

Fortis, which is trying to expand its retail and merchant banking outside of its low-growth Benelux home market, is buying 89.3 percent of Turkey's seventh-largest private bank by assets from Dogan and other sellers.
