and they store for yonks if you sprinkle them with flower and i think thyme..or at least thats what my turk neighbours do. But always open them and check them before eating as the only time i didnt one seemingly perfect one had a few bugs inside! not nice. they also stuff them with walnuts and eat them that way and it tastes soooo nice...


I have a very large fig tree (gumesluk)

how do you tell when the figs are ripe to eat?

We are from Malta, with the exact same climate of Turkey.
We have loads of Fig trees, and I can tell you from my experience that fig trees fruit twice a year - June is the first harvets and August is the second.

There are different varieties. The best ones are the gigantic ones. You should harvest them when they are soft, the softer the sweetier
