electric wheelchair wanted

hi everyone as a former preschool teacher here in uk i have been in touch with aysel offering help and support in any way i can. She is looking for an electric wheelchair suitable for a 14 year old boy at the moment he does not go out at all and she is wondering if i can help her. we are going out on the 25th jan so if anyone can help me i can collect or pay for postage costs. thanks alisons

Dear Alison ,That would be a very difficult job bringing it from that distance for you.And finding one is another difficult job.Lets cancel this at the moment because I dont want donation for that big thing.Lets think once more what we could do in Turkey about it as bringing such a heavy thing would be a big problem.

Serkan is 14 year old boy but he looks younger than his age .I hope the wheelchair will fit his body and he gets the most advantage from it.

He can neither walk nor use his hands ,he is completely unable to do anything including feeding himself.His mum does everthing for him.He has a big smile when he wants to respond you because he cant talk either.

I am sorry to let you down Aysel/Alison, but we already have a member of this forum called Ali, I think we members should make a donation for him, and try to get him an electric wheelchair.
Electric wheelchair is a comlicated thing, it runs 10 km/h and needs to learns how to drive, it is very, very heavy and the cost is the same as it is for a car.
PS. I dont know about the social care in Turkey, if there is some, how it works, may be they can help us getting a electric wheel chair for Ali.

Summertime .. I do understand your concern regarding ali . I wasn't a member of the forum when that case was going on . But i did read how everyone helped out in anyway they could and i expect they still do so . ..But theres no reason why we can't help this little boy too . I believe Ali needed a special bed and thankfully he now has that bed . i hope also he gets a wheelchair . This child needs to get out of the house for fresh air and see things and have a litle joy in his life .. And i'm certain members of this forum have hearts big enough to help both Ali and this child and one won't go without because of the other ......Diane ...

thanks summertime as a new member i was not aware of ali and was only responding to aysel. I asked if there was anything she needed for the children and wheelchair was top of the list. However as always it is not as straight forward as it seems and this child needs to have a specialist one that is being looked into at the moment by aysel and a member who has offered to help us. there is so much generosity on this site i am sure we can help others as well. anything i can do i will alisons
