Bellingcat: 20 Russian soldiers involved in downing MH17

A comprehensive report by Bellingcat open source research team with the number of the Russian troops believed to be involved in the shooting down of flight MH17 over Donbas in July 2014 was handed over to the Dutch Public Prosecution Office two weeks ago, Eliot Higgins, the organization’s founder, said in an interview with NOS.

15 minutes of fame over? Elliot Higgins, aka Bellingcat, is being debunked all over internet by real experts and scientists

Blogger Elliot Higgins, aka Bellingcat is getting debunked everywhere for his amateurish MH17 reports. Not only have his methods been criticised by real experts and actual scientists, but now Higgins’ real identity as a neocon, Atlantic Council stooge are being brought to light.

So you don’t believe that Bellingcat handed a report to the Dutch Public Prosecution Office?

And Almaz-Antey (a Russian state owned company) say that the aircraft was brought down by a missile of a type not manufactured by Russia. This flies directly in the face of the Dutch report - but what would you expect them to say?!

The BUK was seen entering Ukraine with a full load and then seen again leaving with one missile missing. Admittedly many things can fall off the back of a truck – but a BUK missile? :)

There's no need for any "slagging off", the investigations are being done by professionals outside of Ukraine & Russia...............let them finish.

“On July 17, Ukraine marks two years since the passenger jet - Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 - was shot down over militant-held eastern Ukraine..

Ukraine Today: Ukraine remembers MH17 victims on second anniversary of tragedy

Russian images of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 were altered, report finds..

MOSCOW — A group of arms control researchers have determined that two images released by the Russian government, ostensibly to help clarify why a civilian airliner was shot down two years ago, were digitally altered using Photoshop before being posted online.

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's transport minister said on Saturday preliminary conclusions from the forensic investigation into the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 two years ago “could be received later this year”.

So a preliminary report “could be received” later this year :)

I was hoping to read the final report sometime but doubt if I’ll make it to 120 y/o!

Russia claims new data show rebels didn't down MH17

MOSCOW (AP) -- The Russian military says radiolocation data show that the missile that downed a Malaysian airliner over warring eastern Ukraine in 2014 was not fired from territory controlled by Russia-backed rebels.

The claim on Monday came two days before a Dutch-led investigative team is to release a report on where the missile was fired from that hit flight MH17, killing all 298 people aboard. The team is gathering evidence for a possible criminal trial.

A separate investigation reported last year that a Buk missile shot down the flight and that it was fired from rebel-held territory, but did not specify who had fired it.

Russia has consistently rejected allegations that rebels fired the missile. It said the new data would be turned over to investigators.

It was not clear why the data cited Monday had not been previously reported.

Doesn't matter who did it, it is still mass murder.

Are you suggesting that mass murderers don't need to be identified and brought to book?.

And I'll bet that the Dutch report will only say that MH17 was brought down by a Russian supplied BUK launched from occupied Donbas - something that we knew 2 1/2 years and millions of $s ago!

But we mustn't ruffle the feathers of Shorty Shirtless must we?

Strewth!

MH17 shot down by Buk missile brought in from Russia, say investigators

CNN)Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was downed over eastern Ukraine by a Buk missile brought in from Russia and fired from a village under the control of pro-Russian separatists, a team of international prosecutors said Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference in the Dutch city of Nieuwegein, Wilbert Paulissen, the head of the Dutch National Detective Force, said there was conclusive evidence that a Russian-made Buk 9M38 missile downed the passenger flight on July 17, 2014, killing all 298 people on board.

After the missile launch, the Buk was returned to Russian territory the next day, he said.
Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the findings pointed to the "direct involvement" of Russia, and said an investigation was ongoing into specific suspects and their "place in the chain of command" in order to pursue a criminal case.

Russian officials dig in on MH17, as critics decry ‘politics of denial’

MOSCOW -- "A series of denials by Russian officials and state-media allegations of bias and foul play present a view that is starkly discrepant with international criminal investigators' findings, announced this week, over the downing of a Malaysian airliner over eastern Ukraine in 2014…

But the JIT and other investigators are less ambiguous, according to Wilbert Pualissen, the head of the Dutch police investigation: "On [the] basis of the criminal investigation, we can conclude that Flight MH17 was downed on July 17, 2014, by a rocket of the 9-M-83-38 series, fired from a Buk trailer, and that this Buk trailer came from the territory of the Russian Federation and returned to the territory of the Russian Federation after the launch."

Russian Officials Dig In On MH17, As Critics Decry 'Politics Of Denial'

Why Putin Will Never Accept Blame Even Though Russia's Downing of MH17 Was By Mistake

“A Dutch-led investigation representing five countries announced on Wednesday July 28 its conclusion that MH17 was downed by a Russian missile launched “without any doubt” from a field in rebel occupied territory. The Commission finds that the Russian BUK missile system crossed into Ukraine on a tug from Russia the morning of the attack and traveled to the field from which the fatal missile was launched. The Russian missile launcher was subsequently driven back across the Russian border early the next morning on a Volvo truck from the site of the shooting. The Dutch-led investigation used satellite images, forensic evidence, intercepted telephone calls, amateur videos, and eye-witness accounts to prove the committee’s conclusion listed above…

THERE was never much doubt about what brought down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 over eastern Ukraine on July 17th 2014, killing all 298 people on board: a Russian missile, fired from territory controlled by Russian-backed separatists. Still, it was important to see the facts confirmed. On September 28th the Dutch-led Joint Investigation Team (JIT) laid out its case, backed by an array of photo, video and forensic evidence, satellite and radar data, interviews with eyewitnesses and intercepted phone calls. The investigators called the findings “irrefutable”…

Delivering justice may prove even tougher than gathering the evidence. Russia has vetoed attempts at the UN to set up an international tribunal. If a case is brought in national courts, it is unlikely to extradite its citizens for trial. Still, at a time when Mr Putin and other demagogues are practicing a politics of outrageous lies, it is salutary to watch a team of meticulous investigators establish the cold, hard truth. The question now becomes: what will the world do about it?

Moscow summoned the Dutch ambassador on October 3 to complain about a criminal investigation last week that concluded that a missile brought in from Russia shot down a passenger jet flying over eastern Ukraine.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was blown out of the sky on July 17, 2014, killing all 298 on board as it was flying from Amsterdam to Malaysia, the investigation found.

Criminal investigators from the Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, and Ukraine said they had "irrefutable evidence" that a Buk missile hit the plane and was fired from a part of eastern Ukraine then controlled by pro-Russian rebels.

Russia reacted angrily to the allegations and sought to shift the blame onto Ukraine for not closing its airspace during intense fighting -- prompting Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders to summon Russia's ambassador last week to complain about Moscow's "unacceptable" comments.

In a tit-for-tat move, the Russian Foreign Ministry on October 3 said it explained to Dutch ambassador Renee Jones-Bos why the findings "could not be recognized as satisfactory by Russia."

The Dutch Foreign Ministry responded by calling again for Russia's cooperation in bringing those responsible for firing the missile to justice.
