Word is good it is part of the microsoft office suite.

Another if you can get a freeby is publisher as you can get a lot more creative with that.

Yalimart is giving good advice imho, open office works a treat, and asks very little in the way of processing power. Very good for the price. ( buckshee ). Thanks Sun Microsystems.

You can find Wordpad program on your Windows. It will help you.
If you find Office Cd you can install Word, Excel programs.
But Wordpad is already installed, try it and see how it works.

Hi Maggie

In a previous life ;-) I used to train people to use the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & Powerpoint), I'd be more than happy to pop in and give you a bit of tuition or help. I'm usually in Akbuk a couple of times a week, so give me a PM and I'll pass on my details.

As I am frugal by nature, it amazes me that people buy blackberrys from the supermarket when with a little effort they can get them for free, same with software.

There are plenty of legally free applications around that are more than adequate for most peoples needs, probably the only disadvantage is that they come with limited support should you have a problem, but a quick google search will usually provide a solution.

A good list of free applications is here:
