Covid in Scotland: More than 400 care homes investigated over deaths

Full Story

Extract:
A special Crown Office unit set up to probe Covid-linked deaths is investigating cases at 474 care homes in Scotland, the BBC can reveal.
The unit was set up in May to gather information on the circumstances of all deaths in care homes.
Prosecutors will eventually decide if the deaths should be the subject of a fatal accident inquiry or prosecution.
Care homes say the investigation is "disproportionate" and placing a huge burden on overstretched staff.

It’s been a terrible time for the elderly, it’s not them going to raves and weddings either.
All very sad.

Latest update on turkish covid
Tests today 152758
Infections 723
Infections with out symptoms 5856
Recovering 5811
Deaths today 144
Total deaths to date 24933.
It’s never ending & unfortunately there will be plenty more deaths to come.
I remember the days when countries were reporting single figures of deaths weekly, now look at us all. Months possibly years before no deaths are reported from Covid, vaccine or no vaccine. The media might ask the stupid question of when will we tame this virus? Nobody can answer that.

Turkey will receive 10 million doses of vaccine from China, says Erdoğan

Full Story

Extract:
Turkey will soon get 10 million doses of vaccines in a second batch from China’s Sinovac Biotech, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced, informing that the country’s vaccination program will continue as planned by the Science Board.

“The second batch of our vaccine procurement has received approval from China. It’s a big possibility that it may arrive this weekend,” Erdoğan told reporters on Jan. 22 after the Friday Prayer in Istanbul.

Erdoğan said the second batch will include 10 million doses. Turkey had already received three million doses from Sinovac and began its vaccination process on Jan. 13 with health personnel.
Some I know dont want Chinese vaccine.
Mind you neither do I.

Here is a question being posed more and more on radio shows: if the world reacts so ineffectually to Coronovirus-19, what are they going to do when the next virus hits? As we know, the majority of those who get this version are not adversely affected, so when something else comes along, that is even more serious, what will they do.
UK has effectively been shut down for one year, and each time they suggest it is coming to a conclusion there is a reason to extend the shut down. We were told that the vaccination would end the problem, but now, it seems, that is not the case; now we are told an even more severe mutation is taking hold and the vaccination may not protect the population.
It is also not lost on some that governments may like the idea of curfews and restriction of movement tooo much, and may not want to give it up.
We now have (good or bad depends on your point of view) censorship of social media. Anyone who opposes the official line is shut down, their view is silenced.

How does this play-out?

Brussels block Dublin from buying Oxford vaccine as EU population aren't 'guinea pigs'

Ireland has been barred from ordering doses of the Oxford coronavirus vaccine in an apparent EU bid to pay the UK back for Brexit.

The vaccine has been given the go ahead in the UK in order to vaccinate as many people as possible with the NHS under increasing pressure.

The jab has yet to be given the green light by the EU and there may be delays due to Brexit.

“The Irish Government was sharply told by the Commission that this would not be permitted.

“It is hard to see how any democratic Government should allow itself to be overruled by an unelected body like the Commission especially when the health of its citizens is involved in a pandemic.”

Via the EU Advance purchase agreement , no country can be prevented from purchasing , from their own resources any vaccine they so wish , as Hungary proved , Being told , or advised , we have not seen an official communique yet , is totally different from a legal instrument and sanctions , no sign of either in this story .

Hungary unilaterally procures Russian vaccine without EU health approval

The Hungarian government said Friday it had reached a deal to buy large quantities of Russia's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, even though it has not been approved by the European Union's medicines watchdog.
According to regulations from the EU's Amsterdam-based European Medicines Agency (EMA), a national regulator may grant a temporary licence for a vaccine in an emergency situation.
However, Sputnik V is not being examined by the agency.

The Sputnik doses still need a final sign-off from a Hungarian public health authority, so it was unknown when the first jabs would actually be administered.

So a country can purchased it without EU approval but they require EU approval to use it
