I know it's a Grasshopper / Cricket of some kind but does anyone know the proper name of this insect seen on a recent walk around the Kaya Valley?

While I was in Cuba last January, staying at Caya Coco, I saw lots of them and the gardeners were making replicas out of palm leaves to sell to us tourists for a few Pesos. They were incredibly realistic and it was fascinating how quickly they made them just by folding and twisting a single frond. They also made Humming birds and great hats!

I brought one home but the furry friend decided to eat it! for which she was soundly berated!

Yes, we had loads of those this year - the first year I have seen them. The cats loved them, perhaps they taste like prawns??

Is it its name is Jiminy, don't you know that?

I'd have realised that if it had been wearing it's top-hat and had been carrying an umbrella. :splat:
