Buying bedding / soft furnishings etc. in Bodrum?

Hi everyone,

New user and also just about to be a new owner at Turquoise Homes.

We were out there in July and will be heading back in October.

All of our furniture has been sorted but we will be adding finishing touches when we visit in October. We're after things like extra bedding, bedside lamps, bath towels, travel cost, highchair, fire extinguisher, wall pictures etc etc.

We know there's a Tesco and B&Q but B&Q prices look reasonable for certain things but quite expensive for bedding etc.

Anybody have any suggestions on where we should shop please?

From my experience bring it with you. There is a lovely shop along from Sues resturant in Yalikivak where we bought most of our quilts and sheets, but the quilt covers tend to be rather 'flowery', I'd bring those with me - I did. Towels and other bits from Metro, you can get a day pass by taking your passport along. Koctas will frame their range of prints, which are fine for a holiday home

I would say bring bedding with you unless you want to invest in the silk/satin throws with pillow shams you see hanging up in all the shops but they are quite expensive and I bought the same thing in Shaws at home for £20 each (not sure if everyone has a Shaws it might be a Southern thing) and you can get sheets cheap enough everywhere, be careful with the sizes on fitted sheets they are different, we bought what was called a kingsize bed and it is huge more our super kingsize, the singles were the same though.

Take it out of its packing and get rid of all the cardboard bits, you will be surprised how much it adds to the weight, they do a lot of bedding in Metro but we found it was mostly flowery or basic white but hotel quality so more expensive.

Was just going to say the same until I read the whole thread. Sound advice from Lesleykay.

I agree with the others, we bought sheets out with us as we also wanted certain colours, we also got fitted sheets from Metro but the sizing was wrong. We bought quilts and covers over bit by bit, just vac pac them or if you have no hand luggage you can bring a l one as hand luggage.
Found the towels everywhere and they are good quality on the market you can get 'Next' towels at a good price, personally I was not keen on the Metro ones.
If you go to Kippa you can get household things from there, I have heard that 'Linens' on the road out of Bodrum towards Ortakent is good , very modern.

Would buy pillows and the actual duvets over here in METRO/KOC TAS roughly same price and saves carrying them over.
Duvet covers here are a bit garish !
Towels & tea towels, tons of them here as made in Turkey.
LINENS is a lovely shop for bedding etc but bit pricier and curtains can be expensive.
Pictures can be garish too but getting better choice these days, can be expensive. Bring over the kind that are canvass on a wooden frame. Can be bought quite cheaply in UK. Or take off the canvass carefully from frame,roll up and put in a cardboard tube in suitcase. In Turkey get a local joiner to make new frame and staple back on. I have done this succesfully with many pictures.
High chair, travel cot will probably have to get from specialist shop in Oasis Centre. Bedside lamps and fire extinguisher KOC TAS/ONDELER/TEKSEN and lots of lighting shops around.
