A good mate of mine as kids reached his very early 20's with his brother just a few years older.
Both were haemophiliacs and in my mate's case his teenage years were spent watching us play football because he wasn't allowed for fear of bruising or cuts which was a great shame because on the occasions that he did play (without being tackled) he had talent.
Fast forward to his 20's. He started a business with his brother after both had been to Uni and within a year it had disappeared.
Simple cause - both of them had contracted HIV then AIDS from infected blood in transfusions.
This scandal has been buried for 40 years and their own parents died without ever knowing the truth.
The truth is long overdue.

Tories could be in danger of losing more than a dozen 'blue wall' seats - poll

The Conservatives could be in danger of losing more than a dozen seats in their so-called "blue wall" heartlands, a new poll suggests.

YouGov found that voting intention in 53 such constituencies in the south and east of England currently held by the party stood at 44% for the Conservatives, 24% for Labour, 18% for the Liberal Democrats and 9% for the Greens.

"The Conservatives could be set to lose up to 16 seats in their 'blue wall' heartlands if an election was held tomorrow," research manager Patrick English said.

He said the voting intention figures represent "a change of minus eight for the Conservatives from their 2019 performance in these constituencies, plus four for Labour, a surprising six-point drop for the Liberal Democrats, and a sizable seven-point gain for the Greens".

Mr English added: "The Conservatives are falling almost twice as fast in the blue wall as they are nationally, with the latest YouGov poll showing them five points down on their 2019 general election showing."

Those surveyed for the research expressed concerns about the government's handling of Brexit and the need for people to have their say on local housing developments.

All of the seats voted Remain in the 2016 EU referendum and have a higher-than-average concentration of university degree holders.

Of the 63 recommendations the Government commissioned review into the 2011 disorder in London Riots . The Tories only implemented 11 ... what a waste of money and the panels 10 years of time...

Well at least Londoners were later to see the back of the useless Mayor Boris, who was in charge of sorts, during the riots, though posted MIA... he was on holidays (wonder who payed for that one ) didn't even hurry back whilst London burned.

Though back in time for the photo shoot, with brush in hand ( pity he didn't know how to use it ) His answer to the Riots was to buy some broken Water Cannons, seemingly unaware ( approval was required and statutory authorisation by the Parliament in England Even then Boris, we can see he was not a details man but a blunder ) but still they were bought at London taxpayers cost, never used ... and sold later for spares because broken .

Does the above all sound familiar ??? And still some voted him to Rule the country .... people wonder why the Majority of Londoners vote Labour ....because we saw him in action, .... sorry inaction.

Potentially wasted decade to address some underlying causes of 2011 London riots...

Riot panel chair stressed the recommendations were made for local and national government, business, regulators, the police and probation services.

The 10 years since the riots which rocked London and other cities may have been “a wasted decade” in terms of addressing some of the underlying causes, according to the expert who led a Government-commissioned review into the disorder.

I've just heard the latest gaff from our leader.
Today he has praised Maggie Thatcher for being ahead of the game for closing the pits to get climate change up and running early.
If that doesn't end up on a poster at the next GE in our area?
I can hear the sound of the cement mixers working already around us, Yorkshire, the North East and even parts of Scotland as the red walls are being rebuilt.
Who writes his scripts?

Also aďded on the Boris thread.

Just when they announce the price cap on energy is lifted, resulting in steep rises from the energy companies in their bills ( we need quickly discard these old fossil fuels ) but as always the steep increases will again hit the most vulnerable and those that can't afford it , those with card prepayment meters etc ..

The Tories make it a double whammy hitting both the working poor and those unemployed with the Universal credit Top up £ 20 is to be cut . which will leave at least half a million dropping below the poverty level ....

Millions to see energy bills rise by at least £139 as Ofgem hikes price cap

The sharp rise, which will impact half the population who are on variable or default rates and prepayment meters

As ever the tories are leading by example. Climate Minister flies to 30 countries and does not isolate. No doubt he is part of a 'Pilot Scheme'

I can't see how any of this green revolution is going to work seeing as we are all in a bubble and the Chinese are opening power stations every other month, all coal fired. They might be several thousand miles away but is someone thinking that the 'nasties' being produced do not spread around in that bubble? Why aren't all the Eco activists descending into China to make their protests? We know the answer to that one.

Apparently someone who was on the flight to Scotland (what's wrong with the train?) with Boris has tested positive for Covid. However, Boris does not need to isolate as he wasn't in close proximity of the infected person! No, he was in an airtight aluminium tube with recirculating air.

It's been reported that the gulf stream is becoming destabilised due to climate change. If it falters or changes course the UK and N Europe will become too cold for a decent life, so we would become the next migrants in search of a better life.
Interesting thought.
