Turkey is having such a bad Time we had the fires and now the floods like they had in Europe

At least 27 people have so far lost their lives
in flash floods in northern cities on the Black Sea coast, Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate, AFAD, said on Friday.

Floods have brought chaos to the northern provinces of Kastamonu, Sinop and Bartın, from where thousands of people were evacuated by helicopters. Searches for the missing continue. The death toll is expected to rise.

“This is the most severe flood disaster I have ever seen,” Suleyman Soylu, the Interior Minister, said during his visit to the disaster areas. He added that half of Bozkurt district in Kastamonu province was destroyed by flood waters. Many buildings, bridges, roads were fully or partially destroyed in the district.

Over 40 people now in one area alone. Its unbelievable watching it on TV. The pics on the report are so tame to films of the water moving.

the Turks are complaining that the Government takes no real precautions against disasters, like the floods , fires earthquakes nor any real support for its victims when it happens ... The only answer seen from the Government apart from flying in to view the disasters on one of his fleet of 17 planes.........

Is either to throw bags of tea to the public. or to put up a Government IBAN number for the public to pay into to provide aid .... The same public whose unemployment rate is sky high and inflation rate is rampant , the same public whose shops & businesses that have been closed due to a Pandemic ... are expected to pay into this Government IBAN number. The last time they were asked to pay, was for the victims of the Coup but it is still unclear to this day where this Aid went as it wasn't seen by the victims.

.........................................................
The opposition in parliament are full of questions asked about the fate of the donations collected before, in these Government IBAN Aid programmes . The actual amounts collected and the fate of the donations is still uncertain.

The habit of issuing IBAN first started after the coup attempt on 15 July 2016. It was stated that by giving their IBAN number, aid would be given to those injured in the coup attempt. In the intervening period, 309 million TL was collected, but it turned out that no aid reached those injured in the coup.

The victims of the coup, who said that they were not given the aid after July 15, organized an action in front of the AKP Headquarters. Many people injured in the coup were beaten and detained in this action.

The flooding Death Toll rising 57

The number of people who lost their lives in the flood disaster rose to 57

14 August 2021

The loss of life in the flood disaster in the West and Central Black Sea continues to increase. The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) made the statement that "48 of our citizens lost their lives in Kastamonu, 8 in Sinop and 1 in Bartın due to the flood".

While the treatment of 9 citizens was continued in the hospitals, the lifeless body of Arife Ünal, who disappeared 4 days ago after the flood destroyed his house, was found in the village of Akörensökü, in the Ulus district of Bartın, later in the day .

Search and rescue teams continue to work in Sinop's Ayancık and Kastamonu's Bozkurt districts.

I wasn't there last night and as said before, we have our own plans for this, but a big up to my golf club (The National) who gave four vouchers for golf worth at least 4000tl The Gloria course who gave a free nights stay at their all inclusive hotel and many others who put in as much or as little as they could afford. A bottle of gin sold for 250tl and was put back in the auction twice. Cash winnings were donated back into the fund. In total something over 13,000tl was raised for the victims of the fire by mainly ex pats singing and drinking and eating in a small bar in a village near Belek.

Being labelled an ex pat is not that comfortable a title, but today I am proud to be one. The money raised is not significant, but if a 1000 insignificant similar efforts? That would make a big difference

Days On The Beach in Side
Big fires in Manavgat
I live in Side and luckily the fires just missed Side but hit nearby Manavgat badly. My daily helper,s sister lives in the centre of Manavgat and has lost everything - all burnt to a cinder. She is married with 2 small children aged 2 and 7 years old and they just keep crying. They have all moved into Fazilet,s apartment but it is on the 4th floor with no lift and there are now the 2 families living there - 12 people in 3 bedrooms.

Does anybody know of a 3-bedroom furnished apartment in either Side or Manavgat for rent now? ANGELA
