BBC World: Poor image portrayed of Turkey
Awful scenes of street violence on BBC World this morning as Turkish police clash with Kurdish villagers as they tried to retrieve bodies from a local hospital resulting from clashes over the past few days.

Anyone with BBC World will probably get to see this newsreel again, they gave it quite a lot of airtime this morning as they pitched the question... is Turkey really ready for Europe.

There is video footage on the BBC News Website - you can only view it if you are from the UK.

Update....

DIYARBAKIR (Reuters) - One man was killed and five policemen were injured on Sunday as a group of Kurdish protesters clashed with security forces in Turkey’s troubled southeast, security officials said. The violence flared as a 1,000-strong group from the pro-Kurdish DEHAP party asked authorities in Batman to hand over the corpses of six Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) rebels who had been killed in a battle with the military. The officials said police asked the group to disperse and then intervened, firing warning shots into the air. The dead man was killed by a stray bullet.
