ADSL Speeds in Fethiye
Up to last weekend I was getting 5Mbs, Since Wednesday it is never above 2.6Mbs.

Is anyone else having similar reduction in speed?

My computer guy is going through the TTnet phone support to try to deal with it but they say "No problem" at their end, so far.

Thanks for that Tommie. Just checked mine and it's 8.37mbs from Antalya. Can you change to Antalya Immac?

google speedtest ttnet, then put in the speed of you line i.e 8mbps or 16 mbps after clicking on evet on the pop up box you will see a map of turkey with 5 servers to test to. Click on the Yeni Sunucu button to retest on a different server if you want to check against them all.

My results Izmir 12.24 Down 0.67 Up
Adana 12.24 Down 0.65 Up
Ankara 12.21 Down 0.67 Up
Istanbul -AND 12.22 Down 0.67 Up
Istanbul - AVR 12.24 Down 0.66 Up

Pretty consistent, I checked with the Speedtest site mentioned earlier and it gives the same results. You can change servers on the latter one.

Luckily my line could take the extra speed and I upgraded a few months ago to the 16mbps package it was only a few tl more a month but not everyone can get it.

In Bodrum I am getting download 6.95 and upload 0.79. Don't know if that's good or bad but it seems to work ok.

I am in Uzumlu and only getting 3.56. It looks like most of you are indeed getting a 'good download speed?'

When I was paying for 2mbs I got around 1.5; when I started paying for 8, I got 4; after I complained it immediately went up to 5.2mbs.

This tells me the local service is capable of at least 5.2. . It has now dropped off to 2.6mbs, which, as nobody else has experienced the same reduction, suggest someone has flipped a switch. I want the switch flipped back on.

Choosing a server that is giving you the best results is not a very good choice as it is actually giving you a false sense of speed.
(Unless you only ever transfer data between those two points)

If for arguments sake you mainly use your connection for Skype to the UK, then you are better off choosing a UK server to test from, or even a american server, because the shorter the distance the better the result, whereas the further away for the test, then the more realistic the speed will be be for what you actually will be getting.

When you connect to the Internet, surely you are initially connected to the nearest internet access point regardless of your ISP? You then, of course, if you have a VPN, get connected to that ISP but through your initial ISP.

If I'm in Didim, I must connect to Didim initially even though my VPN may be in the UK.
Not sure how the connection to the VPN functions.

When you first start the likes of Speed-test it does a initial ping test then connects to what it thinks is a good server, but it may not be either the nearest or your ISP, my point is you need to test over a route that you may possibly use which will also mean going through all of the joints and connections to get from A to B.

The speeds we get are all dependant on the quality of the cable used and all of the connections, so one piece of bad or faulty connection over a long length is more likely than just testing from point A to the end of the road.

Edit
Just a thought, what I have have been talking about is getting a average line speed test, not necessarily the fastest, obviously you would want the fastest test to confirm what your ISP is supposed to be giving you.
