1000 muggings a day in London

Just been watching itv news and they are reporting 1000 muggings every day last year.

How can this be.

They said "someone is mugged 1000 times a day"-I mean I ask you, how could someone be that unlucky

This is very old, it is stating that David Blunkett is the Home Secretary, and that Oliver Letwin the Shadow HS.
David Blunkett was HS in the early years of Blairs government........

Where does the 1000 muggings a day come from?

You are correct it is an old link I would think it's much worse now due to 13 years of wishy washy socialist sentencing.Unfortunately Ken Clarke doesn't seem to be willing to address this situation with his softly sofly approach on sentencing.

There is a report on the BBC website which states

"It is unacceptable that each day on average more than 26,000 people fall victim to crime and the police report stubbornly high levels of violence - on average 1,000 people are injured each day."

This was in the year ending June 2010 in England and Wales, which, although is unacceptable, sounds more realistic.

Crime in England and Wales falls by 8%

The report is dated 10th October 2010, so is old news.
