Ukraine’s singer Jamala won first place at the Eurovision song contest with her song “1944.”
The Eurovision grand final took place in Stockholm on May 14. Jamala, whose full name is Susana Jamaladinova, got points through SMS voting of the audience and a jury.
I see Turkey decided not to enter this year, well just like the UK it won't have stood a chance as the entry from Austria surely must win:

75yr old Englebert Humperdink to sing for Britain!!!

Confession of a sceptic:
I never watch Eurovision contest - full of cliché, silly commercial show, bad songs etc., just nonsense.
But yesterday I did watch, mostly because I wanted to see the new Telenor hall when the Eurovision was held and see what one of our richest companies used...
Did anyone watch the semi-final last night? I only watched a wee bit of it (honestly) I saw some strange things, but didn't pay too much attention to where they were from. Some rock type, boy band singing about highest high and I think maybe they where. A group of girls pretending to play...
Turkey has picked its song for this years entry...'Deli' (crazy)by Mor ve Ötesi
its all in Turkish this year..im not too keen on it although i like rock..but may be it will improve with listening.
